Second Chakra: The next major chakra within the chakra system is Swadhisthana chakra, located at the very end of the spinalccolumn directly above Mooladhara chakra. Swadhisthana chakra is said to be the director for the subconscious storing of past memories, feelings, and sensual impressions. It does so by retaining all of the past samskaras of the individual. In other words, Swadhistana is responsible for organizing and storing our karma from this life and previous lives. In spirituality, the samskaras formed by Swadhistana can act as a blocks for spiritual growth and development. Therefore, proper regulation of Swadhistana is essential. Psychologically, swadhistana chakra regulates our sleeping, eating and sex patterns. An imbalance in this chakra can lead to over sleeping or insomnia, hyper or hypo sexuality, and eating disorders. On a biological level, Swadhistana chakra regulates the urinary track as well as the reproductive system.
Location: The second chakra is located in the lower abdomen centered between the navel and the genitals, although it encompasses the whole region between these two points. It corresponds to the nerve ganglion called the sacral plexus. This plexus hooks into the sciatic nerve and is a center of motion for the body.

It helps us to bounce back from disappointments and despair, assisting in recovery from grief. The color psychology of orange is optimistic and uplifting, rejuvenating our spirit. In fact orange is so optimistic and uplifting that we should all find ways to use it in our everyday life, even if it is just an orange colored pen that we use. Orange brings spontaneity and a positive outlook on life and is a great color to use during tough economic times, keeping us motivated and helping us to look on the bright side of life. With its enthusiasm for life, the color orange relates to adventure and risk-taking, inspiring physical confidence, competition and independence. In relation to the meaning of colors, orange is extroverted and uninhibited, often encouraging exhibitionism or, at the very least, showing-off. Spiritual Lesson: From the seventh year of life until the age of about fourteen, we begin to discover our sensual/sexual body. Along with it evolves our imagination and creativity. Fantasy enters as the person begins interacting with family and friends. The earth element (BASE) dissolves into the (WATER) element hence its connection. This relationship with water (essence of life) has to do with the fluids of the body – blood, urine, lymph, sexual fluids etc. If we cease expressing ourselves through this chakra either because it is unacceptable to society or painful to ourselves can produce feelings of inadequacy, possessiveness and jealousy. A person who is well centered in this chakra is a person with healthy body awareness and high self-love esteem.
