Moon – Chandra Bija Mantra

Om Shrim Som Somaya Namah.

Shrim – denotes the power of refuge, surrender and peace.

Som – an exclamation interposed in reciting sacred texts.

Somaya – Nectar of the Gods.

Namah- Bow.

Chandra Gayatri Mantra

Om Padmadwajaya Vidhmahe
Hema roopaya Dheemahe
Thanno Chandra Prachodayath.

Om, let me meditate on the divine one who has the lotus as his flag,
Oh, God of golden color, give me a higher intellect,
And let the “Moon God” illuminate my mind and my understanding.

 

Chandra Dev, as a God, is fair and youthful in appearance. He is considered wise, peaceful and auspicious. He wears white and carries a mace in one hand and is seated on a lotus which is carried by a shining white chariot pulled by white horses. The gemstone of Moon is Moonstone and Pearls. The metal representing Moon is silver and the direction is northwest.

 

Chandra as a Lunar God, He is also related with the Vedic Lunar Deity Soma. The name Soma alludes to the sap or nectar of plants.

Right Side

Exhale – Pranamasana, Prayer Pose hands in prayer at the heart center.

Inhale – Hasta Uttanasana, Raised Arm Pose arch back and engage the core.

Exhale – Uttanasana, Standing Forward Bend Pose.

Inhale – Right Leg steps back into Anjaneyasana, Lunge Pose.

Exhale – Anjanyasana lower your right knee on the floor.

Inhale – Hook thumbs, reach the arms up and arch back.

Exhale – Adho Muka Svanasana, Downward Facing Dog Pose, gaze at your thighs.

Inhale – Uttitha Chaturanga Dandasana, plank pose, draw the navel in.

Exhale – Ashtanga Namaskarasana, knees, chest, chin to the floor.

Inhale – Bhujangasana, Cobra Pose.

Exhale -Adho Muka Svanasana; Downward Facing Dog Pose, heels press into the floor.

Inhale – Right foot forward lunge pose.

Exhale – Left knee down on the floor.

Inhale – Ajaneyasana with a knee on the floor, hook the thumbs reach the hands up & arch back.

Exhale – Left foot meets right, Uttanasana Standing Forward Bend Pose, softly bend the knees to modify.

Inhale – Hasta Uttanasana, Raised Arm Pose, bend back at your thoracic spine.

Exhale- Pranamasana, Prayer Pose hands in prayer at your heart center pressing together.

Left Side

Inhale – Hasta Uttanasana, Raised Arm Pose, lift out of your lower back.

Exhale – Uttanasana, Standing Forward Bend Pose.

Inhale – Left leg back Anjaneyasana, Lunge Pose,

Exhale – Left Knee on the floor.

Inhale – Hook the thumbs reach the hands up and arch back.

Exhale – Adho Muka Svanasana, Downward Facing Dog, gaze at your thighs.

Inhale – Uttitha Chaturanga Dandasana, plank pose, draw the navel in

Exhale – Ashtanga Namaskarasana, knees, chest, chin to the floor.

Inhale – Bhujangasana; Cobra Pose.

Inhale – Left foot, steps forward Ajaneyasana (lunge).

Exhale – Right knee lowers to the floor.

Inhale – Hook the thumbs, reach the hands up & arch back.

Exhale – Right footsteps forward, Uttanasana, Standing Forward Bend Pose, softly bend the knees to modify.

Inhale – Hasta Uttanasana, Raised Arm Pose, arch the thoracic spine.

Exhale- Pranamasana, Prayer Pose, hands pressing together at your heart center pressing together

Modifications:

  1. Use blocks under hands in lunge.
  2. Use blanket under knee in lunge.
  3. Keep hands on floor or block for deep back bend.
  4. Low cobra.
